Our Gynecological Services include:

An annual well-woman visit provides an excellent opportunity for patients to check-in and learn about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and minimizing health risks. Your well-woman visit is the foundation of your gynecologic care. Your yearly appointment is about more than just doing a pap smear. It is an opportunity to discuss your overall health, birth control concerns or options, hormones, gynecologic problems, or future pregnancy.

We offer counseling and screening for a variety of gynecological problems, including sexually transmitted diseases. We can prescribe treatment for most STDs.

Our team provides abstinence counseling, as well as contraceptive counseling and pregnancy prevention strategies. Adolescents especially may benefit from counseling about the risks of sexual activity and the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases.

We are committed to assisting women with their family planning and fertility control needs. We offer all FDA-approved birth control methods for our patients. This includes birth control pills, birth control patches, birth control rings, birth control shots, intrauterine devices (IUDs), birth control implants, barrier methods and other consultations for contraception services for women with medical conditions.

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are a type of birth control. Unlike birth control pills that must be taken daily, these are placed through the cervix and into the uterus by a medical professional, and remain effective for 3 to 10 years, depending on the type. They are a highly effective form of birth control.

Menopause can bring some big changes, as well as some symptoms. Our doctor and healthcare professionals at New River Women’s Health can help relieve those symptoms and face menopause with optimal health and greater confidence.

Menopause is actually defined as 12 months in a row without a period. The time leading up to menopause is called perimenopause, and it usually begins in a woman’s mid to late 40s. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports the average age of a woman when she has her last period is 51, but it can occur earlier or later.

Women of all ages suffer from urinary incontinence. An estimated 9 million women across America experience some form of urinary incontinence.

The New River Women’s Health team is sensitive and experienced in helping women overcome this inconvenient and sometimes life-changing condition. We work closely with you to give you options that best fit your needs and lifestyle.

Abnormal Pap smear results may be a sign of cancer or they can be caused by something far less worrisome like a common yeast infection. Dr. Campbell is skilled in diagnosing the causes of abnormal Pap tests so women in and around Blacksburg, VA can get the most appropriate care.
Insulin resistance is a disorder whereby higher than normal insulin levels are needed to maintain normal blood sugars. It is not known what causes insulin resistance, but it may be inherited and influenced by other factors. The most common symptoms of insulin resistance and ovulation dysfunction (often called PCOS) include absent or irregular periods with or without infertility, acne, male-type hair growth, and weight gain. Our team is skilled at helping patients manage their symptoms and help them return to optimal health.
Most sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) have no symptoms, so it is difficult to know if you have been infected. Periodic testing is recommended for anyone with multiple sexual partners, even if they are having protected sex, using condoms. It is important to ask your partner if they have or have ever had an STD. We offer safe and confidential STD testing and treatment.

The good news is that, if you are diagnosed with an STD, most can be treated effectively.
