Infertility

If you have been unsuccessful in conceiving, New River Women’s Health offers Infertility evaluations and treatment. Dr. Campbell will evaluate your reproductive health by testing your blood for hormone levels and ovulation. Your partner will also be tested. An ultrasound of your reproductive organs, including the ovaries, can be done to see if there are any issues that might be causing infertility.

Causes of Infertility

Our goal is to determine the cause of infertility through testing and offer the best treatment for you to help you conceive. Often infertility can be treated successfully. Some causes of infertility include:

  • Hormonal problems
  • Failure to produce mature eggs
  • Scarred ovaries
  • Follicle problems
  • Premature menopause/age
  • Poorly functioning fallopian tubes
  • Endometriosis
  • Obesity
  • Diet, Exercise, Smoking and Alcohol

Infertility Screening

After your doctor asks questions regarding your health history, menstrual cycle and sexual habits, you’ll undergo a general physical examination. This includes a regular gynecological examination. Specific fertility tests may include:

  • Ovulation testing
  • Hysterosalpingography
  • Laparoscopy
  • Hormone testing
  • Ovarian reserve testing

Infertility Treatment

Fertility drugs are the main treatment for women who are infertile due to ovulation disorders. These medications regulate or induce ovulation. In general, they work like natural hormones — such as follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) — to trigger ovulation.
